Zodiacal light. Montage sequence of five views of the night sky over a chapel on a coast. The images were obtained 10 minutes apart, with the last photograph taken just after the end of astronomical twilight, and the beginning of true dark night. As the sky darkens, zodiacal light (diagonal) emerges either side of the bright planet Venus at centre. The Pleiades star cluster is just above Venus. The constellation of Orion is just above the chapel at left. The faint arcing band of the Milky Way is also visible. This is the 17th-centry chapel of Saint-They. Photographed in April near Cleden-Cap-Sizun, on the west coast of Finistere, in Brittany, France.
