Scavenger ciliates. Light microscopy footage of several species of ciliate protozoa feeding on dead tissue from a larger organism. There are four species of ciliate present: Tetrahymena, Coleps, Ophryoglena, and Prorodon. They are feeding on the carapace of a dead chydorid, a type of water flea. This footage was filmed in a pond water sample.
