Composite skeleton of a Megatherium, made up of three separate specimens sent to Madrid between 1789 and 1798. The first was discovered near Buenos Aires, Argentina, the second near Lima in Peru, and the third in Paraguay. From The Animal Kingdom by George Cuvier (London, 1830). Engraving.
