Baby boy being examined by a doctor. This technique is called auscultation, with the stethoscope used to listen to sounds within the body. The sounds of the baby's breathing and heartbeat are transmitted through the tube to the earpieces in the doctor's ears. This will allow the doctor to detect disorders such as lung infections and heart conditions.
