Carina Nebula. Animation of a flight along pillars of gas and dust within the Carina Nebula (NGC 3372). These features are Herbig-Haro Objects (HH 901 and HH 902). Radiation and winds of charged particles from hot young stars in the nebula sculpt compress the clouds of gas and dust causing new stars to form. The Carina Nebula is 7500 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Carina. This view, showing an area around 3 light years across, was obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope.
