Mosquito larva. Darkfield illuminated light micrograph of the head of a mosquito (family Culicidae) larva, showing the mouth brushes (right) that are used for feeding. Mosquito larvae are aquatic and breath through spiracles located on their abdomen, or through a siphon (breathing tube) on the end of their body.
