A certified dyslexia testing specialist shows his dyslexic elementary-school girl pupils sight words she has attempted to spell on a computer. The keyboard is used because dyslexics cannot form letters. Sight words cannot be sounded out in the usual way because certain letters do not make a predictable sound. Such instruction is typical of the Orton-Gillingham Approach which is language-based, multisensory, structured, sequential, cumulative, cognitive, and flexible.
