Illustration of a Climatius. The Climatius is an extinct genus of the spiny fishlike vertebrates called acanthodians. Climatius had two dorsal fins and numerous paired ventral fins, each with a supporting spine. Fossils of these extinct animals are commonly found in the Devonian rocks in Europe and North America.
