Entitled; Cattleya maxima marchettiana taken from Orchid album: comprising coloured figures and descriptions of new, rare and beautiful orchidaceous plants by B. S. Williams, 1891 edition. Benjamin Samuel Williams (March 2, 1822 - June 24, 1890) was an English orchidologist and nurseryman in London, known mainly for his horticultural notes on orchids in publications such as The Orchid Grower's Manual (London 1871), Select Orchidaceous Plants (London 1862 onwards) and The Orchid Album (London 1882-97). Cattleya maxima (Largest Cattleya) is a species of orchid with a superficial resemblance to the labiate species of Cattleya, but with a closer genetic relationship to the Crispid Laelias. Sometimes referred to as the peekaboo orchid or Christmas flower. Orchidaceae is a diverse and widespread family of flowering plants with blooms that are often Colourful and often fragrant, commonly known as the orchid family. All orchids are perennial.
