Metal reactivity. Zinc is a more reactive copper. Hence, when copper coil was added to a test tube containing a 0.13M zinc (II) sulfate solution, no displacement reaction took place (left frame). On the contrary, when zinc coil was added to a test tube containing a 0.2M copper (II) sulfate solution, a single-displacement reaction occurred (right frame). Copper metal and zinc (II) sulfate formed as a result: Zn + CuSO4 -> Cu + ZnSO4.
