Coloured light micrograph of mitosis in a roundworm (Ascaris). Mitosis is the cell division of a nucleus, typically consisting of four stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. It usually results in two new nuclei, each of which contains a complete copy of the parental chromosomes. Magnification 64x at 35mm.
