The Radish (Raphanus sativus) is an edible root vegetable of the Brassicaceae family. Daikon refers to a wide variety of winter radishes from Japan and China. Radish seeds are edible, and are sometimes used as a crunchy, spicy addition to salads. Radishes can be categorized into four main types (spring, summer, fall, and winter).
