Colour enhanced scanning electron microscope of myosotis verna (Forget-me-not) pollen. Forget-me-nots are small blue spring flowers of the family Boraginaceae. There are approximately fifty species in the genus, and the smallest known pollen grains are those of the Myosotis spp., which average about 6 micrometers (0.006 mm) in diameter. The grains shown here are approximately 5.45 micrometers long. Image width: 18.3 micrometers. Magnification: 5,465x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
