Colour enhanced scanning electron micrograph of the ventral surface of a fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) egg. Drosophila eggs have two projections on the ventral surface of the egg, presumably to aid in substrate attachment. The larva emerges at the end closest to the two projections. Magnification 180X.
