Farina or wheatlets are a fine granular product derived from the heart (middle portion) of hard red spring wheat. It is most often served as a hot breakfast cereal ( cream of wheat ), but can also be cooked like polenta. Compared to durum wheat semolina, wheatlet (farina) particles have a markedly coarse microstructure. Enhanced SEM. Image width: 1600 micrometers. Magnification: 62.5x if the image is printed 10 cm wide.
