Three large snowflakes (and some smaller crystals attached) with large centres. Two of the crystals exhibit colour produced by thin film interference near their centres. The colours appear where bubbles have formed in the ice, allowing for extremely thin layers of ice which can allow for reflected light to create interference patterns. Photographed on a black woollen surface, if the image was printed at 10cm wide, the resulting magnification would be roughly 25x. The top crystal measures 2.6cm in diameter.
