This snowflake is growing in a manner that allows for the central portion to be elevated above the rest of the crystal. Using reflected light, the depth and contours of the snowflake become visible when photographed on an angle. Diameter of the crystal measures roughly 3.1mm, which would result in a total image magnification of 32x when printed at 10cm wide.
