This snowflake has very strong central symmetry and geometric shapes. Many of the outer branches maintain this stable symmetry, except the bottom two. These branches may have had slower growth due to another crystal attaching in this region and competing for water vapour. Crystal measures roughly 3.5mm across the longest branches. This image would have a magnification factor of roughly 27x if reproduced at 10cm wide. Photographed of a black woollen fabric. This image was also focus stacked, combining the focus of multiple images in a composite that has sharp focus across the entire crystal.
