This small snowflake had just begun forming branches and growing beyond the hexagonal shape in the center. The circular pattern in the center is indicative of inward crystal growth. The snowflake measures only 2mm across and the entire image would represent a 42x magnification factor when printed at 10cm across. Background is a black woollen fabric and the image is a focus-stack composite to get the entire crystal in focus.
