The Hyde Park mastodon was found in 1999 in Hyde Park, NY. It is the fossilized skeleton of an American Mastodon (Mammut americanum) which lived approximately 13,500 years ago. The specimen was likely an older male of about 30-40 years of age, and when alive, weighed 10-15,000 pounds. The mounted skeleton resides in the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, NY.
