Light microscopy of a tendon viewed with polarized light microscopy. Bundles of collagen fibres show a crimp' pattern typically associated with stretching, straining and relaxing of this tissue. The collagen acts as a shock absorber when force from a muscle is transmitted through the tendon. Magnification x220 when printed at 10 cm.
