Light microscopy of a section of liver tissue. The liver is comprised chiefly of hepatocytes seen here with abundant supplies of stored fats (green droplets) and cell cytoplasm densely filled with organelles (purple). The rich blood network is seen as many capillaries that perfuse the organ, eventually emptying into the hepatic veins. The liver is the main organ for metabolic activity and it produces bile and breaks down drugs and toxins. Magnification x370 when printed at 10cm.
