The Siphandone wetlands comprise the braided channels of the Mekong River above Khone Falls in southern Laos. It is an area of high biodiversity with rheophytic vegetation that is adapted to the extremes of being fully submerged for several months during the annual flood but exposed to hot arid conditions the remainder of the year.
