Fairy shrimp eggs. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the dormant eggs of a fairy shrimp (Chirocephalus shadini). Fairy shrimp are branchiopod crustaceans that grow to between 6-25mm in length. They live in vernal pools and hypersaline lakes worldwide. Each of these eggs measures 0.28mm across.
