Polarised light micrograph of nylon stockings. Nylon is a polyamide invented in 1935 by Wallace Carothers who was working for Dupont. Dupont decided to focus its attention on using nylon to produce women's' hosiery, its use rapidly expanding to the wide. Magnification: x27 at 10cm wide.
