Test for hip congenital hip dislocation. Computer illustration showing the Barlow manoeuvre (left) and Ortolani manoeuvre (right), used to diagnose developmental dysplasia of the hip in infants. This condition is a congenital or developmental deformation or misalignment of the hip joint. If the hip can be dislocated using the Barlow manoeuvre, the test is considered positive. The Ortolani manoeuvre is used to confirm that the hip has in fact been dislocated during the Barlow manoeuvre.
