Sugar production in Cuba has been in decline since the revolution. Failure to invest in new technologies, exhaustion of the land, and new producers eg Brazil has furthered the decline to 1.3m tonnes from 5m tonnes in 1958. In this image an old truck hauls cane to one of the few remaining processing mills. Photographed near Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.
