Streptococcus agalactiae (group B streptococcus) is a gram-positive, facultative anaerobic coccus. Strep B normally asymptomatically colonise the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract of humans. It can also be an opportunistic pathogen and cause several invasive and neonatal infections.
