Caption

The larval stage of the harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) resting on a nettle leaf on a mid summer evening surrounded by the remains of previous meals. This is an invasive species from asia which is thought to compete with the native species of ladybirds for food. Photographed in Somerset UK in July.
