Caption

Supernumerary tooth and gum swelling. An erupted supernumerary (extra) premolar tooth, next to a swelling in the gum of a 25-year-old female patient. Extra teeth may be caused by hereditary or environmental factors. Many supernumerary teeth never erupt, but they may delay eruption of nearby teeth or cause other dental problems.
