Tooth structure. An extracted tooth cut in half to show its structure. The outer layer of the crown is enamel, the hardest substance in human body. Beneath the enamel is the dentine, and at the centre of the tooth is the pulp cavity. The pulp cavity extends down into the roots, and contains the nerves and blood supply.
