Ovarian cancer. Laparoscopic image of a granulosa cell tumour (GCT) affecting the right ovary (white) of a 55-year-old female patient. GCT is an uncommon cancer arising from granulosa cell tissue, a hormonally active component of the ovarian tissue that is responsible for estradiol (female sex hormone) production. GCT of the ovary are considered as low grade malignancies with a relatively more favourable prognosis compared with much more commonly encountered epithelial ovarian tumours.
