Caption

Catalase enzyme experiment. Footage of a piece of liver tissue being added to hydrogen peroxide to demonstrate the action of the enzyme catalase. Liver contains a high proportion of catalase, a common enzyme found in the human body. Here, the enzyme catalyses the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. When the liver is added to the hydrogen peroxide the reaction mixture fizzes as oxygen is released.
