Obelia hydrozoan medusa stage. Light microscope footage of the free-swimming medusa stage of Obelia sp., a hydrozoan. Medusae reproduce sexually, producing larvae which attach themselves to solid surfaces and form stalked sessile colonies of polyps. The polyps form new generations of medusae. Magnification: x44 at 10 centimetres wide.
