Lactic acid bacteria. Light microscope footage of Lactobacillus delbrueckii bulgaricus (long strands) and Streptococcus thermophilus bacteria (short chains of spheres) from a sample of yoghurt. These are both types of 'lactic acid bacteria' and are commonly used in the production of yoghurt. Filmed with phase contrast illumination. Magnification: x450 at 10 centimetres wide.
