Rotating animation of a molecular surface model of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a virus transmitted through sexual contact or skin abrasions that infect keratinocytes within basal epithelial tissue. There are over 120 identified types of HPV, and while most produce no symptoms, a number of types may lead to the development of skin warts or genital warts, skin lesions and a variety of genital cancers.
