Cardiac combined PET-CT scan footage. In this footage, positron emission tomography (PET) and computed tomography (CT) imaging are combined to detect coronary artery disease (CAD). This is a sequence of axial scans, showing the heart's chambers and major blood vessels. PET scanning uses radioactive tracers to study blood flow and metabolism. CT scanning (using X-ray) produces the base image on which the PET data (coloured red-yellow) is overlaid.
