Surface of Venus. Radar image of the surface of Venus obtained by the unmanned Soviet spacecraft Venera 15 and Venera 16. The Maxwell Montes mountain range is in the centre and contains the highest point on the planet's surface. Clearly visible is the 100 kilometre wide Cleopatra crater. The data for this image were gathered by Venera 15 and Venera 16 in orbit around Venus between October 1983 and July 1984.
