Tamsulosin belongs to a class of drugs called alpha-adrenergic blockers. It is is a prescription drug which is used to treat symptoms of urination difficulties caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), an increase in size of the prostate in middle-aged and elderly men. Tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4 mg works by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and prostate gland. It comes as a capsule that is taken orally.
