Abandoned acid mine drainage plant. Abandoned leaking tailing pond at an acid mine drainage (AMD) treatment plant. AMD is the outflow of acidic water from metal or coal mines. Tailing ponds are areas where waterborne refuse material is pumped into a pond to allow the sedimentation of solid material from the water. Photographed in Witbank, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
