Caesarian section. Newborn baby being delivered through Caesarian section surgery. C-section involves delivering a baby through an incision in the mother's abdomen and uterus (womb). It is most often performed when vaginal delivery would pose a risk to either the mother's or baby's health. However, sometimes it is performed by request of the mother. Here, the nurse is suctioning the baby's mouth to remove any amniotic fluid and other debris that might prevent it from breathing properly.
