The central oocyte is surrounded by proliferating follicle cells that have begun to secrete follicular fluid represented as several cavities known as antrums. Enlargement and coalescence of antra accompanies follicle growth leading to the preovulatory Graafian follicle. Magnification x200 when printed at 10 cm.
