Light microscopy of lung tissue showing very many alveoli. Each alveolus is the terminal end of the respiratory passages or lung airways and are filled with air. Their walls are so thin that oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged between the air and accompanying capillaries. Thin connective tissue septa that carry blood vessels pass through the lung tissue. Magnification x30 when printed at 10 cm.
