A wall painting with a bright yellow or gold surround in the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Pompeii, Italy. It appears to depict a person boarding a ship to leave home (somewhat reluctantly). When the Vesuvius volcano erupted in AD 79, Pompeii was buried in ash and other volcanic products known as a pyroclastic flow, which preserved much of what is visible today.
