Small intestine resection surgery. Surgeon using silk stitches (sutures) to reconnect the small intestine mesentery after part of the small intestine was resected (removed). The mesentery is a fold of tissue on the wall of the peritoneal cavity. It attaches to the intestines and contains the arteries and veins that supply the intestine.
