Transthyretin. Molecular model of the thyroid hormone binding protein transthyretin, also known as prealbumin. Each molecule consists of four identical subunits (green, purple, blue and pink) and contains two binding sites. Transthyretin is found in the blood serum and cerebrospinal fluid, where it transports the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4) and vitamin A (retinol).
