Liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks. LNG is predominantly methane. It is taken as a gas from a production well, then cleaned and dried. It is liquefied by cooling to -162C. As a liquid it takes up a smaller volume, and although this is excellent for storage, it means that all the storage and handling equipment must be highly refrigerated. Photographed at Sabetta, a port and Liquefied Natural Gas plant under construction on the Yamal Peninsula in the north of Russia.
