Male Andean condor (Vultur gryphus) on a rock. Andean condors are native to the Pacific Coasts and Andes mountains of western South America and are one of the world's largest birds. They are critically endangered (as of 2010) and are the subject of the Andean Condor Conservation Project, which aims to reintroduce members of the species to the wild.
