Doppler ultrasound blood flow test. Doctor using a Doppler ultrasound device to assess blood flow in the posterior tibial artery of a patient's ischaemic lower leg. Ischemia is a restriction in blood supply to tissues. Ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves) from a transducer are reflected by body tissues. These echoes are detected and used to build an image of structures inside the body. Doppler ultrasound is used to analyse moving fluids. Photographed in a hospital intensive care unit (ICU).
