Fijian islands, satellite image. North is at top. These Fijian islands are part of the Lau Islands or the Eastern Archipelago. They are the islands of Mago (lower left), Kanacea (centre left), Vanua Balavu (left of centre, largest island shown), and Munia (lower centre). The small island at top right of Vanua Balavu is Avea. The small island at centre right is Cikobia. Fiji is an island nation in Melanesia in the South Pacific Ocean. It comprises an archipelago of more than 332 islands, of which 110 are permanently inhabited, and more than 500 islets. This optical image was obtained by the SPOT 7 satellite on 3 July 2014.
